Christine Stahnke

Coach

I’m Coach Christine and this is me. I am a 2x mom. I am a wife. I am fitter now at 30 than I’ve ever been in my life. I am 4foot 10. I am 105 pounds soaking wet and I’ve worked my behind off over the last 3 years to get from 90 to that 105. I was a cheerleader in my past life. I am a girly girl down to my core, which I’m sure is made of glitter. I also have a gnarly sugar addiction. (Coca-cola & Wild berry gummy savers are my favorites)

I started at CrossFit Thunderbolt 3 years ago as a way to make some friends, get out of the house, and give myself an outlet for my competitive nature. Seeing who can fold towels the fastest isn’t as exciting as it sounds. I instantly fell in love. I started CrossFit specifically for the “CrossFit Open”. As the spouse of a member, I was already attending all the fun events CFTB had to offer. The Open is easily the most exciting time in pretty much every box around the globe. The energy is so high and everyone is incredibly supportive. That same Open season I learned quickly just how much my cheer background could help me in the gymnastics and bodyweight aspect of this new found sport. Building strength on the other hand would take time… and lots and lots of reps. I found something I was good at, something I enjoyed and something that pushed me every time I walked in the door. I LOVED it. I had tried globo gyms, pilates, personal training, kickboxing, Zumba, cycling classes. None of them gave me that feeling of “I can’t wait to go back” the way CrossFit does.

My 2nd summer I was asked if I wanted to help coach the kids programs. As a mom I was hesitant – how could I coach other people’s kids if my own don’t want to listen to me?! I have a hard time saying no, so I said sure, I’d try it out. Again I LOVED it. The kids were so sweet, eager to learn and ready to work out some their seemingly limitless energy. I eventually added in the preteen and teen programs and love them just as much! Helping “my littles” (many of which are much taller than I am) find their confidence and inner athlete is lots of fun! Seeing their eyes light up when the workout or game is something they like doing is amazing. Having them write workouts to do alongside their parents is even better! In all the coaching I have done and will do in the future, helping kids find their own love for fitness will forever be my favorite part.
